I had a perfect 1st pregnancy with my son. My water broke at home,
we delivered naturally 16 hours later and went home 2 days after that.
My 2nd pregnancy was going even smoother until we were diagnosed during
our 20-week routine ultrasound with vasa previa. Information shared
on this website and through the email support group gave us the confidence
and knowledge to ask questions as needed and to do whatever was needed
to bring our little girl in to the world safely. I was fortunate that
I had no other complications with this pregnancy and managed it mostly
from home with weekly
checks with my Dr. At 35 weeks to the day, we did an amnio to determine
lung capacity, we were given the green light and at 35 weeks, 1 day,
Taylor Katharine was delivered via c-section. She weighed in at 5
lbs. 13 oz. 17.5 inches long. She was taken to the NICU immediately.
She struggled breathing initially and was placed on a feeding tube
as well. She was and is absolutely beautiful. I held her on the 2nd
day and fed her on the 3rd. She came home on Day 7 and has never looked
back. She is now 14 months old, happy, healthy and truly a miracle.
I purchased Vasa Previa bands for our families this year for Christmas
and have encouraged all my newly pregnant friends to ask their Dr.
to check for this. Knowing about VP is the key!
